Target Audience Evaluation.

I asked six questions to three Students.
I found out that they liked Bright colours for the text and the text should be written in an informal way, the front cover should contain pictures of student on certain activities and courses. They would pay around 50P - £2.50. It will also contain information on upcoming cinema films, music and fashion trends. I have come up with a name by talking to another student from Ludlow College and came up with the name “Creative Cats”.

Initial Ideas.

INITIAL IDEAS       Alex Preece      Sunday 29th September 2013

Names:

The Red Thunder – This is an enticing name, which I think would attract the reader as it suggests a very powerful and striking word.

The New Horizon – this name could connote a meaning of progress and starting a new chapter in your life.

Creative Cats – This could connote a magazine containing a lot about the artistic students and Subjects; such as Photography, Media, Drama and Music, also it could contain new upcoming music or films.

Equality – connotes a new rise where everyone can feel free and happy about whoever they are.

Up to date – This name could connote a sense of proudness by knowing about all the new up to date stuff.

House style/brand identity:
The house style will be carried out throughout the whole magazine using the same three colours. I plan to use the colour scheme of Orange, Black and neon pink, hopefully this gives a balance of colours that connote masculinity and femininity.

Mode of address:
I will use a selection of images that relate to education, fun and Social activities. I will incise people to read by using words that speak to the audience.

Central image:
The central image on my front cover will be a medium shot covering just under half a page off in order to catch the audiences' eye and still leave room for other things around the central image. I will ask around to see if anyone would like to be on the front cover of my magazine.

Content:
My magazine will contain information on courses, tips to help them along on their ways, questionnaires for them to answer and also it will contain upcoming cinema films, new music and fashion reviews and information.

Price
The price of my magazine would be about £2.00 as it is aimed towards students who would most likely only be in a part time job and would not really want to pay a great deal for a magazine.

Introduction to Preliminary Task and Action Plan.

Before I start the main task, I first will complete the preliminary task which is to summarise what I am being assessed on, Using DTP and an image manipulation program, produce the front page of a new school/college magazine, featuring a photograph of a student in medium close-up plus some appropriately laid-out text and a masthead. Additionally candidates must produce a mock-up of the layout of the contents page to demonstrate their grasp of DTP.

Introduction to Brief.

As part of my AS Media Coursework, the brief requires me to create the front page, contents and a double page feature spread of a new music magazine. I have created this blog in order to record my research and planning which will help me to produce a successful magazine.

I have decided to base my magazine around the music genre Classical/Orchestra and my objective I have set myself is to create a magazine that will attract the younger generation rather than the normal target audience  of mid-aged people

I will look at classical magazines to get the idea of the norm and I will look at pop magazines to see what attracts the average younger generation and try and create a mash-up magazine that will attract all ages but focus mainly on teens.
